Apple iOS 16.1, iPad OS 16.1 and macOS Ventura are now available • TechCrunch
Apple released iOS 16.1, iPad OS 16.1, and macOS 13, as it announced last week. The updates include a number of new features for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, including Continuity Camera Input, which allows iPhone owners to use their device as a webcam for their Mac. The iPad and Mac updates also introduce Stage Manager, a new (and somewhat controversial) window management feature for multitasking.
iOS 16.1 also introduces a new feature in the marquee for supported iPhones: Live Activities. While two native Apple apps have been able to take advantage of this feature, it provides live update information on your lock screen, and in Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro models.
iCloud Shared Photo Library is also coming to iPhone, iPad, and Mac with these updates, which means you can share libraries among multiple family members with contributions from everyone. Apple Fitness+ has also been exempted from strict Apple Watch requirements, allowing subscribers to access workouts on their iPhone without the need for an Apple wearable.
All updates should appear if you go to Settings > General > Software Update on an iPhone or iPad, or to Preferences > Software Update on a Mac.
