Bangladesh reports 3 more Nipah virus cases, brings seasonal total to 14

Health authorities in Bangladesh have reported three additional Nipah virus cases, including two additional deaths, according to a recent report.

This is up from the 11 cases and 8 deaths reported Just over two weeks ago.
According to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka, from January 2023 to March 4, 2023, a total of 14 Nipah cases have been identified through surveillance.

The new cases were reported from Manda Upazila in Naugaon district of Rajshahi district in western Bangladesh.
This outbreak is associated with the consumption of date palm sap.
