Be a Holiday Hero to a furry companion with short-term foster pet care

Spend your holidays with a dog or a cat

AUBURN, CA – This holiday season, open your home to a pet to give them a temporary break from their homes, while you enjoy the gift of a furry companion.

From now until December 31, Placer County Animal Services A “Holiday Hero” is welcome to take a pet home for the holidays, even if it’s just for a few days. Foster foster homes provide the shelter with insight into animal behavior and reduce the number of pets that must be cared for during the holidays.

Matching animals for families

Interested prospective families can access it [email protected] To start the process, which includes brief papers and oral practice. Placer County Animal Services will match animals to families’ needs. All supplies are provided (food, toys, blankets, boxes if needed).

“This is a great way to get a short-term companion over the holidays without a long-term commitment,” said Katie Ingram, program director for Animal Services.

“The animals get some TLC and practice their social skills, and this experience can improve their adoptability. At the same time, it gives us more space and resources for other animals in need.”

Taking pictures of your pet can help show potential adopters their personality. Families who enjoy the adoption experience over the holidays are welcome to become more regular carers. Foster homes are given priority for adoptions, too.
