Every president has a legacy for good or for worse. It may be that President Biden is now being erected with tent poles across the country. Small campsites built illegally The flow of migrants across the southern border They sprout like weeds through the sidewalk. We should call them what they really are, Bidenfels.

Tent cities are opening up all over New York, a new feature in our urban landscape, but not one without historical precedent.

In the 1930s, when the Great Depression swamped the bank accounts and lives of Americans, shantytowns were grouped on a large scale to accommodate the victims of the economic catastrophe. And the people at the time had the common sense to place the blame in its rightful place, on their government, specifically former President Herbert Hoover.

Hooverville became a symbol not only of government failure, but also of the popular resistance of the incompetent elite class that smashed markets and all but destroyed the country. looks familiar?

There are rich historical arguments regarding Hoover’s handling of the depression, but to the voters of the time, he either seemed blind to their suffering, or he didn’t care. They’ve seen him do almost nothing. Otherwise, how can we describe Biden’s position on the crisis on the southern border?

Not even the president’s visit can bother visiting the southern border, nor can the designated frontier czar, Vice President Kamala Harris. They ignored it for about two years, but when I Just a bus loaded with immigrants arrived On Martha’s Vineyard, it has suddenly become a national emergency. Of course, the heroic citizens of the vineyard did not actually shelter the migrants, but rather expelled them to a military base as quickly as possible.

Immigrants come to the North now, sometimes by secret Federal flights, sometimes by frustrated border governors and sometimes by their own devices. Now, sanctuary cities like New York are obligated to house them; In many cases, Bidenville is the only and best option.

Even Democrats like New York City Mayor Eric Adams and New York Governor Kathy Hochhol They criticized Biden’s inaction. But you have to wonder what they thought being a sanctuary city actually meant if not housing immigrants. It’s like inviting people to a far-reaching wedding assuming they can’t attend, and you’ll just get gifts in the mail. Except they are coming. Many of them. So where do we put them?

Bidenville.

Bidenville was not necessary. For four years, the Trump administration invoked policies such as “stay in Mexico” and barrier construction and were working to turn the tide. More importantly, these actions sent the message that you can’t just enter America, you may not. The Biden administration, despite its casual whisper that immigrants should not come, is showing by its actions and inaction a huge open door.

The tent-like structures will provide temporary housing for 500 asylum seekers who are bussed into the city by the rulers of the border countries.

If the Biden administration claims that the borders are secure and that everything is going as planned, why shouldn’t the president have the honor to allocate these tent cities to him? Now, all he has is a break in Delaware on I-95.

The murders of undocumented immigrants weren’t enough to get Biden into action, and there wasn’t the Fennell Crisis, human trafficking, Terror Watch List members, or the whole host of atrocities that come with wide open borders. Perhaps he was moved by irony. Perhaps knowing that his legacy is, like Hoover’s, a lousy inclination of his own making, he will persuade him to do something.

If he doesn’t act, be prepared to see Bidenville close to your neck in the woods sooner rather than later. You’ll see your local resources drain like cold shower water because Biden can’t secure the borders. You can never solve a crisis by ignoring it, it always gets worse, and Bidenville is only the latest example of how bad things can get if we don’t control who comes into our country and how.
