Democratic Republic of the Congo: 12,000 measles cases reported in Kasaï-Oriental province

The Chief of the Kasai-Oriental Regional Health Department, Dr. Nestor Chitko, announced that more than 12,000 measles cases, including 109 deaths, were registered during 2022 in the province.

This pandemic is currently affecting 17 health zones that make up this province in the center of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

He points out that this epidemic mainly affects children between the ages of 0 and 5.

Nationally, about 140,000 measles cases and more than 1,700 deaths were recorded in 2022.
