Outbreak of food poisoning in Baladnaud
About 138 female students of a government girls’ boarding school fell ill after having lunch at their hostel in Satinpali in Palnadu. The victims were shifted to Satinpali Government Hospital. Among them, 60 were admitted to the hospital on suspicion of food poisoning after they complained of fever, vomiting and headache, and the rest were discharged after a medical examination.

African swine fever in Kottayam
The African swine flu scare has returned to Kottayam after a brief lull.
According to District Collector PK Jayasree, new cases of the virus have been reported in two pig farms in Uzhavoor panchayat. In view of this discovery, steps were initiated to cull all 66 pigs within a radius of one kilometer from the affected farms. The executions will follow an infection control campaign at these sites.
