Flipkart has launched a metaverse offer for consumers to discover and shop new products, which is the latest bet from the Indian e-commerce giant as it experiments with web3 offerings to enhance customer experience.

The Bengaluru-based company backed by Walmart It has partnered with eDAO, a company incubated in Polygon, to launch its metaverse offering, which it calls Flipverse. The show is in beta and aims to attract interest during the festive season this month.

In the Flipverse, which is rolling out to the Flipkart app for Android on Monday, the company is offering “interactive and immersive game experiences” to consumers where they will be able to collect Company loyalty points – Supercoins – Plus digital collectibles from partner brands while making purchases.

In a briefing on Monday, Flipkart said a “wide range of brands” including Puma, Noise, Nivea, Lavie, Tokyo Talkies, Campus, VIP, Ajmal Perfumes and Himalaya are participating in setting up experience theaters on the Flipverse.

“The idea is to get millions of users to try Flipverse and open the doors to the future of shopping,” the company said. Company executives acknowledged that its web3 offerings are in beta, but said they are confident it has the legs to eventually become an important part of Flipkart’s future.

Flipkart and its main competitor in India, Amazon, are increasingly expanding their offerings to reach new customers in the South Asian market and maintain a loyal base.
