Meals on Wheels Placer County receives additional funding
Improving the lives of the elderly, adults with disabilities and their families
Auburn, CA – Meals on Wheels Placer County, run by Seniors firstfunded by Meals on Wheels California, a state association whose mission is to create a unified voice for nutrition providers and expand the impact of our programs across the state to improve the lives of seniors, adults with disabilities, and their families. This funding will allow Seniors First to advance their efforts to increase their impact on the lives of seniors in Placer County.
“We are dedicated to meeting the unique and diverse needs of seniors in our area, so we are excited to continue funding meals for all new and existing senior adults,” said Senior Executive Director of Seniors Stephanie Verstra. “This investment from Meals on Wheels California will allow us to continue our mission and make a positive impact within our community.”
On average, the Seniors First program arranges 80,000 services annually aimed at promoting the general welfare of seniors in Placer County. Over the past year, Seniors First has been able to provide low-income seniors with 25,000 hot meals, 12,000 trips to essential service appointments, more than 250 home repairs, 2,000 hours of home visits, and much more.
“We believe that seniors are an important part of our communities and providing opportunities for all people to remain active and engaged as they age is important,” said Brent Wakefield, President of Meals on Wheels California. “We are grateful for the work Seniors First is doing to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable seniors in our communities, and we are proud to support these and other efforts to help people grow older without fear of hunger and isolation.”
