Nepal dengue case count tops 50K for 2022

Nepal’s Department of Epidemiology and Disease Control reported on November 9 that the cumulative total of dengue cases reached 51,177, an increase of 9377% compared to 2021 when Nepal reported 540 dengue cases.
Bagmati County had the highest number of cases (39,624), followed by Lumbini County (4,918) and County-1 (2,085).
Kathmandu district saw the most cases (13787), followed by Lalitpur (9522), Bhaktapur (5489) and Makawanpur (5347).
57 deaths from dengue have been reported so far.
In Nepal, dengue fever is a rapidly emerging disease. Vector surveillance was performed in three regions:
Dang, Lalitpur and Kathmandu showed the presence of Aedes aegypti and Aedes vectors
ovary; All four dengue serotypes are found in Nepal, with DENV-1 and 2 historically contributing to
highest burden.
