The Epidemiology and Disease Control Department (EDCD) of Nepal today reported an update on dengue fever in the country for the year 2022.
As of 11 December 2022, a total of 54,232 cases of dengue fever have been identified in Bagmati district.
The highest number is recorded (42143) followed by Lumbini District (4984) and District-1 (2249).
The top 10 provinces have reported the highest number of cases (45,234, 84%), with sporadic cases.
Reported from another area. Among the top 10 districts reporting dengue cases, the highest number of cases were reported from Kathmandu (14,165), Lalitpur (9,614), Bhaktapur (6,145), Makawanpur (5,830), Chitwan (3,188), Dang (2,405), Dading (1678) and Rupandehi (1203).
T0 date, 67 dengue deaths were verified.
In Nepal, dengue is a rapidly emerging disease. Vector surveillance was carried out in three districts: Dang, Lalitpur and Kathmandu and it showed the presence of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus vectors. All four dengue serotypes are present in Nepal, with DENV-1 and 2 historically contributing to the greatest burden.
