Placer County rolls out new benefits platform
Auburn, CA – Placer County has become part of a new benefits platform that is gradually being rolled out statewide: BenefitsCal.com.
The new system allows community members to easily apply, renew, and access a variety of benefits, from food to healthcare to employment. Existing features that customers will need to create an account on the new website.
For those who have not previously registered for benefits, the new Placer website – GetHelpPlacer.com – It can help tell you if you are likely eligible and connect you to appropriate applications for programs through BenefitsCal as well as related services from local agencies and community organizations. If someone does not qualify for the benefit programs, GetHelpPlacer.com can direct them toward other suitable resources.
Connecting people to services
“the new GetHelpPlacer website “Between that and the ease of use of the upgraded BenefitsCal application process, we are removing barriers to accessing a variety of programs,” said Greg Geisler, Director of Human Services.
Placer County community members can also text GETHELPLACER to 898211 (or AYUDACOMUNITARIA for Spanish) to receive text updates about local services, classes, and events throughout the year.
The BenefitsCal website supports apps CalFreshMedi-Cal/County Medical Services Program, CalWORKs, General Relief, CalFresh and the Immigrant Cash Assistance Program. Over the next two weeks, as this new system continues to be implemented, the opening hours of the Human Services call center and offices will be adjusted.
