Amid a protest against a “code of conduct” by organizers of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the host country is pushing fans to spread positive messages about the country and the event.

An FA spokesperson said: “The Qatar Supreme Committee has contacted the England Fans Travel Club to conduct a registration process for fans to join the FIFA World Cup Fan Leaders Forum.”
“We have been told that this is an opportunity to engage with fans from all competing nations to ensure that the fans’ voice is clearly heard in the planning of the World Cup, and that many international football associations are being contacted.
“After the initial registration process, the project was managed by the Supreme Committee of the State of Qatar, we are no longer participating in the scheme, and we have not been able to see the ‘Code of Conduct’ or any of the terms and conditions of participation.”
