A 2,200-acre project rebranded from Placer Ranch to Placer One
ROSEVILLE, CA – Taylor Builders has announced plans to begin work in early October 2022 on a major project in Placer County called Placer One. The 2,200-acre certified master plan community, formerly known as Placer Ranch, is a unique partnership between Placer County, California State University, SacramentoAnd the Sierra Collegeand Taylor Builders.
In creating a single place for the surrounding communities to gather with the myriad of exciting things to do, the four Placer One partners envision the project as a fulcrum for the area. The synergy of this collaboration led to the rebranding of Placer One, a new name that reflects the holistic vision of inclusion, teamwork and creativity. Labeled as a “one for all” destination, Placer One celebrates one shared ethos, one hub for innovation, all in one premiere location.
Place One includes a major employment center, town center, university, expansive parks, and open landscaped space that will be linked by an extensive bike route network with new facilities to provide large-scale employment, shopping and dining areas, and diverse residential neighborhoods. Placer One’s high-quality services and amenities are designed to support the future residents that the new Career Center and University will bring to South Placer.

Placer One provides a balanced mix of land use which will be the catalyst for the development of the entire Sunset area. Campus Park’s 335-acre job center will be home to a diverse mix of job uses. In addition, the 200-acre downtown Placer One will include retail establishments, office space, apartments, and loft-style homes close to the day workforce and university students and faculty.
More than 5600 housing units
In construction, Placer One is planned to accommodate 5,636 residential units, including detached and multi-family units, age-restricted neighborhoods, and mixed-use facilities within the city center. The first phase of the development will consist of seven neighborhoods, with separate single-family spaces ranging in size from 4,500 square feet to 9,500 square feet. The first phase infrastructure is scheduled for completion in late 2023.
Another major component of Placer One will be the new campus created through a collaboration between California State University, Sacramento and Sierra College. The 300-acre site will include the California State University system development of an off-campus Sacramento Center in Placer County along with an extension of Sierra College.
Placer One’s integrated life experiences will create a lifestyle balance with art, edible community gardens, parks, biking and walking trails, and interactive areas that promote learning and growth. The community is committed to becoming a regional hub that combines educational and cultural enrichment with responsible, sustainable and innovative design with connectivity, inclusion and opportunities for personal growth.
