Rocklin, CA – Sierra College Foundation (SCF) announced that it will award $300,000 in scholarships in 2022. As an organization, SCF serves as an application office for Sierra College It is committed to aligning with Sierra College’s mission: student success for all while closing achievement and equity gaps. Students often struggle, and financial constraints are the biggest obstacle to student success.

“This is my favorite time of the year,” said Sunbul Al-Abadi, SCF Executive Director. “Throughout the year, our Board of Directors, donors, and team work incredibly hard to bring in dollars that we can give to students to help them continue their education. At the start of a new year, it’s always gratifying to reflect on the previous year and see our efforts work in a meaningful way. Scholarships are not necessary for a community college. While community college is an affordable option, there are still many brilliant and energetic students who need financial assistance with basic needs like rent, food, and gas.Our scholarships help students with these basics of life so they can focus with the least pressure on their education.”

Founded in 1972

Founded in 1972, SCF raises money from private donors to support students, college programs, and the future of Sierra College. SCF does this through events like The taste of excellence, Sierra College Athletics Golf Championships, grant funding, private donations, corporate donations, and planned giving. SCF has grown alongside the college and encourages gifts to support students, enhancement of college programs, faculty support, and facility improvements to ensure student success.

“By awarding me this scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden allowing me to focus more on the most important aspect of school, which is learning. I hope that one day I can help struggling students reach their higher education goals by helping them in the same way you helped me Thank you,” Sierra Devine College student.
