The last four measles cases were reported on 20 October 2022. The ages of confirmed measles cases ranged from 9 months to 24 years, with four males and four females. Three children were fully vaccinated against measles. Six cases of measles had an unknown vaccination history, and two children were not vaccinated against measles. One case of measles was hospitalized and another had pneumonia without hospitalization.

Health officials in Limpopo Province and Greater Sikokhuni District have started public health response activities with support from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and the World Health Organization. These activities include evaluating medical records to identify missing measles cases, tracing contacts, screening suspected measles cases using measles surveillance case definition, and collecting blood and throat swabs for measles diagnostic tests.
