In 2022, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health reported 361,813 cases of dengue, including 133 deaths.

The number of injuries increased five times, and the number of deaths increased by 107, compared to 2021.

The number of new cases decreased in the last weeks of 2022 because the cold weather was not suitable for mosquitoes to spread the disease.

The number of dengue cases across the country has fallen sharply compared to the previous weeks of October to November and early December when the number of cases was usually over 10,000 per week, with peak periods approaching 12,000 per week.

Epidemiologists believe that due to the cyclical nature of the dengue epidemic, current weather conditions are favorable for the development of mosquito larvae, disease-carrying mosquitoes, rapid urbanization and increased exchange and travel. In addition, people’s awareness of proactive disease prevention is not high. Through inspection and supervision, many larvae and larvae are still being detected in homes and residential areas. These are the reasons why dengue cases were higher in 2022 than in 2021.
