ForeVR today announced a $10 million Series A funding round, which is being used to build its lineup of games and establish itself as the “Wii Sports of VR.” Lobby Capital led the Series 1 funding round with the participation of Bessemer Venture Partners and Galaxy Interactive. The new capital raised the company’s total to $18.5 million. Funded investors include Mark Pincus, founder of Zynga, and Twitch founders Emmett Shear and Justin Kan.
Like Wii Sports games, ForeVR games are designed to be easy to play. Since its launch in 2020, ForVR has released three games – FORVR Bowl ($20), ForVR Darts ($10), and the most recent addition, FORVR Cornhole ($15).
ForeVR games can be played in single player or multiplayer on Meta Quest or Meta Quest 2. Players can unlock skins for corn bean bags/plates, darts and bowling balls, listen to music through YouTube music boxes, as well as explore different ‘halls’ and bowling lanes, such as bowling at Atlantis or playing darts in a British pub .
