Wisconsin women’s volleyball takes court, wins for first time since leaked photos scandal

The win moved Wisconsin to 14-3 overall and 8-1 in the Big Ten. The Badgers finished third in the conference, ahead of Nebraska (9-0), and Ohio State (9-1).

Police investigation after ‘private photos’ of WISCONSIN WOMEN volleyball team leaked online

The Wisconsin women’s volleyball team is ranked No. 5 in the country.

The Department of Athletics announced Wednesday that the UW-Madison Police Department is investigating “multiple crimes” after student-athletes reported the photos to the school that they “never intended to share publicly.”

“We realize that private photos and videos UW Volleyball Student Athletes which was not intended to be published publicly is being circulated digitally,” reads a statement from the university.

“Unauthorized participation is a significant and unlawful violation of the privacy of student-athletes, including potential violations of university policies and criminal laws.”

One of the photos posted online reportedly shows members of the team wearing sports bras after winning the 2021 Big Ten Championship.

The statement continued, “The UWPD is investigating multiple offenses, including sharing sensitive images without consent. The UWPD does not investigate student volleyball athletes for wrongdoing in this matter.”

“Our top priority is to support our student-athletes and provide them with appropriate services and resources.”

The University of Wisconsin’s Department of Sports said the volleyball team is not under investigation for any wrongdoing.
